MARCH 14-18, 2022

RECEPTION: THURSDAY, MARCH 17TH, 4:30PM - 7:00PM

CROSSLEY GALLERY, RINGLING COLLEGE MAIN CAMPUS

The Fine Arts Department of Ringling College of Art and Design is pleased to present UNWOVEN , a collection of works by artists Alex Veve, Lauren Lesley, Júlia Galvão Ramos

UNWOVEN exhibits the appreciation of fragmentation and the reconstruction of meaning, memory, and identity. Alex Veve’s photographic work marries the intersection of hyper-feminine glamor and ambiguity by constructing provocative scenes that reject linearity and context altogether. Lauren Lesley’s graphite and charcoal drawings focus on the idea of using the senses to revisit old memories and decrease the distance between subjects that she is emotionally attached to, yet physically disconnected from. Júlia Galvão fragments her work, using repetition and printmaking to explore memories and their lasting impact. The conceptual and visual qualities of each artist's works intertwine with one another, yet their choices of medium and overall approach allow them to convey their individual and unique perspectives.
