2022 Illustration Sketchbook exhibition
september 12-October 22, 2022 , opening reception September 16 , 5-8pm
William g. and Marie Selby Foundation Gallery
The sketchbook is an essential part of the creative process for many artists and makers. In a literal sense it is a portable tool, ready to record, jot down, sketch, and collect ideas as they emerge. It is usually private space, for exploring freely, developing ideas over time and experimenting with new materials and ways of thinking.
For this exhibition, behind the scenes work will be brought to the foreground, featuring the talent and creativity of Ringling College’s Illustration Faculty and their different approaches to making. This exhibition includes physical and digital sketchbooks along with a unique insight into their inspiration and process, sharing the unrefined detail, preparation and research that goes into creating.
Participating Faculty include:
Don Brandes, Matteo Caloiaro, Oliver Dominguez, Regan Dunnick, Scott Gordley, Hunter Huang, Michael Marsicano, Sean Murray, and Rebecca Zomchek
